iPad 2 - icons wiggle, but no X's to delete with

Reset the iPad. Press and hold both the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

See if the x's show now.

If not connect the iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select the iPad under Devices in the source list then select the Apps tab.

Deselect the boxes for the apps you no longer want on the iPad then click Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.
