No sound from Netflix on apple tv 2

I have this same exact problem with Netflix on my Applet TV 2. Some movies play with sound and others have no sound at all (video plays as if on mute). There's no rhyme or reason to which movies have sound and which ones don't. This just started happening recently, too, so maybe it's the most recent 4.3 software update? I tried restarting the device and nothing changed. If you figure out a solution please post!

I just did a full restore of the Apple TV 2 and it looks like the no sound issues have been fixed! All movies that were giving me issues are now working. @cyberpillz try going to Settings->General->Reset->Restore and see if your sound problems are fixed. Let us know!

I finally found out how to fix the no sound issue

Go to settings audio/video and turn off dolby digital then the sound works perfect.

I tried resetting, restoring , unplugging none of which worked.

I've tried restting, restoring and turning off the dolby digital audio and still several movies have no sound on netflix. its seems to be mostly the new-ish releases but not all of them. please help.

Switched off the Dolby sound and all program's now playing with sound.... Thanks for blogging the solution :)

That fixed my audio issue. Turning off the Dolby setting gave me back all audio on all movies and TV shows. Thank you!

This finally fixed my issue after several calls to Netflix and pondering the problem for about a year. Thanks, now I can watch the second season of Sherlock.

I tried turning off the Dolby but it did not work. As I was about to reset I notice the "restart" option (Settings>General). It took about 5 minutes for the restart process to complete. Both netflixs and hbogo are now working. Hope this helps out.

Even better answer at least in iOS 7 on the Apple TV or the latest update is to change Dolby from ON to AUTO. I discovered this last night while testing the on off option discovered auto also exists and it worked fine on my little pony under Netflix which was giving no sound with the video for the blind user.

Turning the Dolby off worked for me.

I just unplugged mine & plugged it back in & It worked!

when people have surround enabled but stereo speakers connected the stereo speakers are front left and right

but most audio in surround really come from the center speaker

so you do get audio just not the audio you want

one only notice when the media is in surround otherwise all speakers play stereo even the ones you people have not connected

it's not a bug it's a setting which is set wrong if

by the user it's a error 40 if it's the default setting then one could advocate that apple chose a wrong default value

as more people would only have stereo then surround
