Thanks RatVega,

Actually after a few unsuccesful tries, I could finally open FCP and save a new project with these specs.

The only thing I changed when it worked was the language I used....

I alternatively use french or english american and I never encountered any problem of that kind before ...

What would you suggest that I check ?

The IMAC I use is still under applecare but I doubt that they would help me with a FCP problem if it is related to FCP ?????

By the way the disk is not full.

Many thanks again

The first rule for cutting on an iMac is (of course) store your video data on a different drive, usually external. I've heard that any full or nearly full attached to the system can cause the problem.

But equally important is the non-disk related issues that can cause the error as well. I recently read a thread at Creative Cow that discussed how an In at the end of your timeline can cause the error on export (presumably because of the lack of data.)

IMHO, this isn't an AppleCare issue. But you might benefit from spending the time you saved (not having to deal with Apple Tech) researching "general error code 34" where you may find something that resonates with you and your working environment.

Good luck (Bon chance!) 😉
