Quicklook problem

I failed to mention, that QuickLook seems to work fine in Path Finder.

I was wrong. QuickLook does the same thing in Path Finder.

What happened to the photo on my original post??? How in the world did my question get marked as a "Helpful Answer"??? Anyone?

For some reason, the site deleted my image. I'll try to upload another as soon as it happens again. I just restarted my computer, so Quicklook will work OK for awhile, then go bonkers again. Basically, when I hit space bar, the area where the image would normally appear is a grey box. The captions at top are visible, ie, "Open with Preview", the close area, etc, but there's no picture, just grey.

Anybody have any ideas on why Quicklook does this???

Still no suggestions? Apple? It's faster for me to open a file than to use "Quicklook". I'll start calling it "Slowlook."

This is a real pain in the behind and I would appreciate any help.

FWIW, SlowLook tends to work OK for a short period of time after restarting Finder, which I have to do fairly often (Finder begins to have the spinning beach ball when you try to do the least little thing, such as move a file a few millimeters, rename a file, etc.). I've also noticed that upon selecting more than one file, hitting Space, that SlowLook doesn't always offer me the "view multiple file" option in the title bar. Boy, howdy, do I wish my Mac worked like a Mac!

Me and adindavanh the only two in the whole world who have this QuickLook grey box problem??? Sigh......

Sorry to hear you're having problems, but kinda glad I'm not alone. FWIW, I've noticed that SlowLook (formerly known as QuickLook) seems to work better when only one user is logged on. I've also noticed that some aps that use SlowLook display the files without problem. I think this is somehow a Finder problem, particularly since I have a very unresponsive Finder after only a few hours of use. It begins to have more and more spinning beach balls until I finally have to restart the Finder, which helps for awhile, but then starts to creep back to the same ol stuff. For example, if I move a jpg to another folder, the "copying file to...." dialog box comes up for a couple of seconds, the beach ball spins and then the file is finallly moved. Moving a small file to a different folder should happen instantly, but it doesn't. It doesn't seem to matter if I use the Mac Finder or TotalFinder, I get the same type problems.

An update: I have discovered that SlowLook actually works if you only one user account active at a time. Wondering if this is a RAM issue. I have the maximum possible 8Gs of RAM in my iMac, but not enough apparently. I've upgraded (crossgraded?) to Mountain Lion, and although it seems a little better, it still occurs if two user accounts are active. Quick User Switching is not going to be possible in many iMacs due to the limitation of RAM installation IMHO.
