I installed Final Cut Express 4 yesterday. I cannot render anything! When I try to render it says "Warning: Insufficient disk space for render. Please free up space and retry." I have deleted preferences and it still will not render. I have also made room by deleting files but it still will not work! What do I do?
Make sure that both your boot (system) drive and the drive you assigned as the Capture/Scratch drive in FCE have at least 15% free space available.

Im sorry, what do you mean? How do I tell what drive I assigned it to(would it be Macintosh HD?) and how much space is there?
Please start with some basic information ...
Exactly what model Mac do you have, how much RAM, what version of OS X are you running?
How much free space is on your Mac's hard drive. In the Finder, select the icon for your "MacIntosh HD" disk, then do Command-I (letter "i") -or- do File > Get Info. A window will open up that will tell you the format, capacity, available and used space on the hard drive.
Are you using any external hard drives? If so, exactly what are they and how are they connected to your Mac (USB or FireWire?)

It is always recommended NOT to use the boot (system) hard drive for media and render files. You can assign any internal or external Firewire or eSATA drive in FCE's settings.

click the "final cut express" tab, then click "system Settings." there you can set where you want your render files to go.
