"Adobe Acrobat 5.0"
Is "Adobe Acrobat 5.0" compatible with Lion? Can I upgrade 5.0 so that it works with Lion? Or must I upgrade to "Adobe Acrobat X Pro"?

Adobe Acrobat 5.0 is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 a.k.a. Lion. It requires a PowerPC processor or the Rosetta emulation feature which is only available on Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6.
Thanks for the answer.
Somehow, I am still able to print to PDF. Is this a standard feature of Lion (that I can print to PDF from any application)?
Yes, Mac OS X has been able to do so as far back as I remember. If you're creating PDFs for professional output (and have specific font, color, and layout needs), Acrobat is still the go-to product - otherwise, for most people, "Save as PDF" from the Print dialog works just fine.

Sounds good.
One more question--The only other thing I need Acrobat for is combing PDFs into one big file. Is there an easy way to do that with Lion? Or would I need to purchase Acrobat X Pro?
We've been able to combine PDFs into a single file since 10.6, I believe. (Maybe 10.5.). Open the first PDF in Preview, open the sidebar in thumbnail view, and drag your subsequent PDFs into the sidebar to combine them. If you want to combine many PDFs on a regular basis, you may prefer to use a workflow in Automator.

Sorry, I can't get that to work. I can drag-and-drop the PDFs into the sidebar, but all that does is put them all into a differnet folder. I want all the PDF pages concatenated into a single PDF file. How do I do that?
Make sure you're looking at the Preview sidebar, not the Finder sidebar.
Also, I should correct one instruction. Dropping a file AFTER another file in the sidebar worked in Snow Leopard; in Lion, you'll need to drop the second file ON TOP OF the first file in the sidebar.
Open the first PDF in Preview. In the toolbar area of Preview, just to the left of the search box, you'll see 4 icons. Click the second icon from the left to open Preview's sidebar (where you'll see each page in the PDF as a separate thumbnail). Then, from the Finder or Desktop, drag another PDF on top of the first file's thumbnail. That should combine the files.
