Substitues for Ipad 2 wall unit charger

....or whatever its called. I had one of those nifty white boxes for each my Iphone and my Ipad2 I can find neither, and my computer "won't charge my ipad" ie after my friend helped me research here I discovered it will but at a snails pace.

I currently did find a DLO DLA96464 usb unit.

The specs on the back are as follows:

Input- 100-240V~0.2A(max)

Frequency 50-60 Hz

Output 1a===== 1A 5W

Will this be safe to charge my Ipad2 with. I am not OVERLY worried about how FAST it will charge, but I don't want to over charge or burn out the power unit on my Ipad2 I don't want to use this device if it is going to f-up my ipad rather than charge it lol

If anyone can help me that would be great. If not I guess I'll go out and buy one from the geek squad at best buy but I'd like to save the 30 bucks or whatever it is going to cost if I can....safely.

Thanks!

Most adapters that output to a USB-type port will work to charge the iPad. They are usually limited to the same power out put as a USB port, which is 500mA. At that low amount, the iPad can't charge and be powered on, which is why you see "not powered" when you turn on your iPad. Turn off the iPad and it will charge, but just take longer. (And some computers do not supply power to the USB port if the computer goes to sleep.)

The specs of the adapter you posted would work. It's a little more power than a typical USB power so should charge faster than other adapters, but not as much as the original iPad adapter, which was 2A. You likely will still see "not charging" with the iPad on, but again, turn the iPad off.
