can't copy paste between programs

Hello,

I have a new MacBook Pro with Lion installed.

I am having problems copy and pasting text from one software to the other, (from word to firefox, from acrobat to word, from any to other).

Earlier in the day I had copy/pasted a large amount of data and before I closed Word, the program asked me if I wantd to keep that information in the clipboard after closing the program, I responded no. Apparantly what the question ment was, will you ever want to copy/paste anything from anywhere to somewhere else? After this happened, I can't copy paste between programs.

Anyone knows anything about this problem? Where are the clipboard definitions in a mac? (I am a new mac user, and starting to miss my old pc...)
