I have the wireless keyboard and Mac OS 10.6.8. How do I select multiple contiguous files in Finder? I've tried shift + click, fn + click, control + click, option + click, and command + click, but nothing works. Is there some burried setting somewhere to enable a key shortcut?

Shift-click is the standard to select multiple, contiguous items, including files in the Finder.
However, shift-click doesn't select contiguous files if you're in icon view - presumably due to the ill-defined concept of 'contiguous' in this setup.
So if you're in icon view, shift-click might not do what you want - in which case either switch to list view, or just drag an area on the window to contain the iterms you want to select.
You can use shift-click and clicking on the first and last item you want if the files are together. If files are spaced out, you can use command-click and click the files you want.
This was not obvious to me, especially since this is possible in an icon view in Windows. I'm sincerely missing this capability in particular when selecting photos. I need to be able to see the thumbnail as a multi-select. Is there a way to submit a feature request to Apple?
You can use the Finder's View -> Show View Options menu to select the icon size to use for list view. The larger icon may show more detail of the image thumbnail - it's not as much as icon view, but it might be enough to suffice.
