Best Thin Case/Bag for MacBook Air 13"

Just purchased (and eagerly anticipating the arrival of) a 13" Air. Now I need to decide on a new case/bag for my Air as my previous bag for my ancient 17" laptop would be a bit superfluous... The most difficult thing about picking one out is being unable to try them out in person other than the standard ones that stores carry which aren't exactly tailored to the Air's uniquely thin profile. Basically what I'm looking for is a case or bag that will safely and securely hold my new Air, as well as a decent amount of extras (i.e. power adapter, superdrive, g-tech slim external hard drive, usb wireless internet modem, a small CAC Smart Card reader,) but still remain as thin as possible and be decently aesthetically pleasing.

So, does anyone have any recommendations based on personal experience? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, below are two links to cases that look like they might possibly do the trick:

I just bought a new 11" MacBook Air. This is my third Apple laptop (Powerbook G4, 15"MBP).

For all three of these laptops I have used a booq viper case. They are AWESOME! The protect very well, are specifically designed for tha laptop and provide excellent protection (2 tours to Iraq and Afghanstan have proven that).

I also apply a bodyguardz full skin to my laptops as well.

Here is the link for the booq viper for the 13" MBA.

Well, looks like I found my solution(s)

I'm going to get the following bag:

Targus 13.3" Radius Messenger Bag

And possibly couple it with the following hard sleeve:

Waterfield Design MacBook Air Smart Case

The Targus bag looks extremely well designed (saw it in person today) and very purpose built, as well as pretty high quality construction. It got extremely good reviews from fellow Apple users, so I'll pull the trigger on that tomorrow and give an update. I figure I'll couple it with the Waterfield Smart Case for those times when I can't/don't want to lug the entire messenger bag around (plus, it's pretty **** stylish 🙂)

I bought and returned two cases before deciding on a generic 13" CaseLogic sleeve/case. It has handles but in realiity is a sleeve, there's no room for anything other than the computer. It has a little outside pocket that could hold something small like an iPod or SD Card but that's about it. When I'm moving around campus I stuff the computer into the sleeve and the handles let me carry it conveniently. When I need to travel with more stuff I put the sleeved computer into my larger backpack.

What worried me about the other cases I looked at (and the two that I bought and returned) is that once I had the computer, charger, and maybe an external drive or iPad in it and zipped it up that the extra items were pressed against the computer. As thin as it is I didn't feel there was enough protection between the computer and the extra stuff.

There's plenty of room in the backpack with pockets on the sides as well, for extra stuff and when I've packed all my things for a trip the computer is in a padded sleeve sitting in a padded compartment with nothing pressing against the lid or bottom. Seems much safer to me than a single case.

I've spent many dollars on Macbook Air cases over the past few years. While I am a big InCase fan, I am now using a pretty slim case by Level8.

This is the one I currently use.I like it because it is primarily for the standard Macbook Pro, but is very slim. The extra roominess lets me put more stuff in the pockets, if need be, as well as afford the room necessary for my Macbook Air with a hard shell.

If your Air has a hardshell installed, most cases custom for the Air are too tight to fit.

Just recieved the iTrust leather sleeve for my 13-inch MacBook Air:

This sleeve is made by hand from genuine leather and custom designed for the Apple MacBook Air 13 inch.

This NEW VERSION sleeve has been redesigned by extending the flap in order to maximize protection for the device inside.

The sleeve has magnets inside the flap, the interior fabric is microfiber.

100% highly recommend this sleeve for the MacBook Air.

I also recommend a screensaver:
