Going to get my 10-yr son an iPod touch. Would like opinions on 3rd gen versus 4th gen. Probably will be mainly used for gaming, maybe music, we're not sure of the power of these things yet. Thanks!

The new one also has the front and rear cameras with it. Another thing to consider is that the 4th generation iPod Touch will continue receiving iOS updates a little while longer than the 3G probably will, although that's not absolutely certain (only Apple knows and can decide that).
B-rock
- The 4G has a fromt and back cameras. The better one (back camera) is on 0.7 MP and not that good.
- The 4G has a better/higher resolution screen and faster processor than the 3G.
- The 3G iPod is avaialbe in 32 and 64 GB models. However, some users have purchased 2G iPods and though they were 3G iPods so be sure you are realy geting a 3G iPod if you are going to get one.
- The new 5G iPod may be released soon and you might want to wait.
I think the main difference is storage capacity...
I think ipod 4th gen is 1000000000000000000000 times better than 3rd just sayin!!
