Black screen at startup

hello everyone, my powerbook G4 15" - 1.5ghz runs perfectly well except that the screen will not lit up at startup, I only get a single line of pixels and no output on the external monitor either. Waking from sleep its fine. The only wqay to make it work is to drop the front of the laptop by about an inch just as I startup. Any suggestions?
