In app store, I am told that I have to enable cookies but they already are.

I received as a gift a brand new iPad 2 16G + Wifi. So far, I just want to throw this thing out the window. I can't do anything with it.

When I get the free iBooks app in app store (or any free anything), I am told that I never purchased anything before so I need to review my account:

"This Apple ID has not yet been used before in the iTunes Store. Tap Review to sign in, then review your account information."

When I tap to review my account, I am told that I have to enable my cookies:

"You must turn on cookies to continue."

I tried "From Visited" but also "Always" in my Safari cookies settings.

It's all the more aggravating that the iPad does not remember your sign in credentials, and I have tried ~ 30 times so far to get this to work. Each time I try to get anything in store I have to re sign in yet again and retype my Apple ID and password with 1 finger.

Hello,

I also experienced this conundrum while helping my mother with a new-used ipod.

I reset, restored and entered in username and password numerous times before resorting to my laptop.

I opened itunes, signed in my mom's account and was met with the same bull-sh*t: "Review account"-message.

But... on the laptop I was able to continue... review apple terms... and finally return to the ipod and re-enter username-password to sucessfully sign in and download apps.

This was my solution.

It is my experience that many Mac issues run into dead-ends while trying to resolve them on ipod/iphone devices. a fullsize computer will often offer more pathways on the road to resolution. Good luck!

Don't throw it out of a window. If you really hate - it sell it! :)

As you have found out you can't download any apps without an iTunes account - even free apps so I will assume that you did set up the account properly and that you have an Apple ID and password so ... try this. Go to the settings again and sign out of your account. Restart your iPad and then sign into your account again and see it that works.

If you don't know how to restart your iPad ....Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

BTW .... did you receive an email from Apple confirming the account setup?

Can you make a new account using the same email address as used for the initial account?

To make a new account you'd have to use another email address. Thankfully gmail, yahoo, etc. etc. don't care and you can make as many alternative emails as you want these days.

As a workaround, a new account isn't ideal since you don't have your purchase history, but if you just need to get your iOS device set up with some free apps while the server issue is getting fixed, it's an available option.

I have an old Apple account. I just never had purchased anything with it. The login credentials do work, the problem happens only when I tap on the "review" button after I successfully logged in. The problem also happens on my Mac Book Pro so I was able to rule out any problem with iPad. Although the error reported by iPad is bogus. It's not a cookie thing, because I cannot review my account when in iTunes on my Mac Book Pro either. Different error there: just a "Cannot Connect to store" when I click on "Review" button... then iTunes points to a help page that is for Windows users. I don't have Windows. I have a MacBook Pro.

I have not received an email from Apple today, no. I did set up the iPad. I was not aware I would be sent an email for it. I checked my Apple ID account's email inbox. Nothing.

I am creating a new Apple account now. I am bit desperate. No wonder people have many Apple accounts floating around. Let's see if I can use a newer account.

I should not sell my iPad because 30 people chipped in to buy it for my b-day and that would hurt them if they learned that I did.

Thank you so much for taking the time.

It's my birthday today. I am stuck alone at home because the elevator where I live is broken and I am in a wheelchair. At least I have an iPad. (It was shipped to me this afternoon.) I just installed the free dropbox app now and added a few books from there to my iBooks. I can go read a book in my bed on my iPad.

Same problem here, except this was a new account! Just set it up as the iPad came as a gift with the gifter's ID originally on it, so had to set up a new one. Can't long into iTunes on the Mac, can't log in to either the iTunes or App store on the iPad. Really getting tried of entering the apple ID and PW time after time, then the unhelpful message about turning on cookies or the bizarre one on the Mac about fixing issue with an Apple ID on windows machines!

Same issue here. I also tried to login with my PC to review the account, but it gave me the same message about cookies and a clock reset.

First time apple user received an iPad as a gift, not too impressed so far. Apple support is not open now and the recording does not tell you what hours they are but suggest the expresslane online help that supposedly will have someone call you immediately.... yeah right, no option for that. Just a promise to get back to you in 24 hours. email sent. If they can figure it out for me, I will post the fix.

I gave an ipod touch 4 to my youngest son for his birthday.

Installed iTunes and updated firmware to 4.3.5 (8L1); all OK

Created Apple ID and can logon to this using computer.

When using the working apple ID on the iPod however, keep getting message cookies are disabled. This after it directs to review the new account info.

But cookies are enabled for 'visted'. Also tried 'always'

Also tried hard reset.

Spent a whole day trying to get an apple dev working; still can't use any app.

Also restored to original ios; no luck.

Needless to say my son is very disappinted (and so am I) :-(

Is there any way to get this working, or should I simply ask for a refund?
