Does ANY printer work with OSX Lion??

I have a brand new iMac and NONE of my 3 printers will work with it. Yes, I have installed the updates for the drivers. I have communicated with the tech support people for each printer (Canon, HP, and Epson) and none of them can help me. I have tried to use them wirelessly and wired, to no avail. I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled. I have tried every suggested idea on the printer websites.

I'm just wondering if there is a printer that actually does work with Lion? I love Lion; wouldn't trade it. But I have to be able to print for my business.

Please help!

My Epson Artisan 810 works flawlessly. Have you connected your Epson via USB, turned it on, opened the Print Pref Pane in System Preferences, and clicked on the '+' sign to add a printer? In order to run it wirelessly, there are a few extra steps involved - but, first, according to the Epson instructions, you should connect it via USB. FWIW, mine is working both wired and wirelessly.

My Canon iP4600 works perfectly, and my Canon scanner LIDE210. I downloaded the current drivers from Canon site.

Actually, I do know how to add the printer; I am fairly computer literate and have installed numerous printers over the years. I did not have any trouble installing it and adding it to the preferred printer list.

It is definitely in my list of available printers and it is connected; that is not the issue. This is not a "user error" issue or the tech support people would have caught it by now... this is a distinctly Lion-printer issue, hence my original question.

The printer actually starts printing whatever I ask it to; but then it stops halfway through and the tech support people cannot figure it out. My Canon prints beautifully, is the default printer in the printer list, is connected to my Mac via USB and immediately begins printing, but then after a few lines or even after the first page printed, I get an error about communication.

This is what happens with all 3 printers when I try to print.

For those of you who responded that your printer works well with Lion, are you using the newest version OS X v10.7.1 ?

How long have you been using your printer with this version?

The Epson is the printer Apple sold/gave me when I purchased the Mac 3 weeks ago, but I have not been able to get it to work right yet. I am willing to purchase another printer if I know it will work. I am getting too far behind on my business printing... 😟

Well I've had the Epson for over a year and have used it with Snow Leopard and all versions of Lion including the latest one (how long: as long as that version has been available). There was only one instance some time ago where the printer did not automatically work after an OS update - deleting and re-adding it did the trick.

Have you tried deleting the .plists associated with the printer? These are all in my ~/Library/Preferences list:

And this folder:

I'd move them to the desktop (just in case you want to move them back), restart (important), and try adding the printer again.

My Canon MX860, which I had been using wirelessly with Snow Leopard, has worked perfectly in Lion. I didn't have to make any changes whatsoever. I downloaded the Lion update when it came out. It worked fine before and after the update.

i have been using a lexmark X4985 all in one wireless printer that is hooked into my network and it has no problems with lion. i have yet to try it with my HP printer so i cannot help you there

It might help people offer suggestions, or at least experiences and opinions, if you'll post the specific models of printers you have. People just "shotgunning" replies about whatever printers they happen to have probably won't be of much assistance unless they just happen to mention the same model that you have.
