Sep 2, 2011 4:35 AM in response to philfrommongoliaby Retired Engineer,Are you connected to the E3000 via a hard wired LAN cable?
You can't do the initial configuration of a wireless router via a wireless connection.

Sep 2, 2011 5:14 AM in response to Retired Engineerby philfrommongolia,Not connected at all at this stage. Just uploading software to computer hard drive with Cisco CD inserted. First response is "upgrade required". I am 99% certain it is because Lion OS was not considered when Router was in production, and also sure a "fix" is out there or will be shortly, but have not seen it.

Sep 3, 2011 3:24 AM in response to philfrommongoliaby Retired Engineer,You don't need the Cisco software to configure an E3000.
Connect directly to the E3000 with Safari.
I no longer have the factory firmware on my E3000 but it was either http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.2.1
Go to System Configuration -> Network -> Advanced -> TCPIP and it will tell you what the router's address is.
All configuration can be done there.

Mac OS XWhile hard-wired to the router via Ethernet, open Safari and just copy or paste:
192.168.1.1
and hit return. If you haven't changed it, the default user is "admin" (without the quotes) and the password is "admin" (again without the quotes. You can set up your router now.
Good luck,
Clinton

Aug 11, 2012 6:58 PM in response to philfrommongoliaby steve359,I second clinton's advice (not that he would really need any "second").
I always use the direct "connect to 192.168.1.1" method.

Mac OS XSorry - it's the only way I could use to set up my Cisco/Lynksys router - should work for all of them... what happens when you paste 192.168.1.1 in the address bar? Anything?

Mac OS XOh - might you have changed it when you were on the phone with Cisco? I know that I changed my admin password when I first set up my router...
