Can't backup iPod touch. Help?

I can't get my iPod touch to successfully backup. It's the only issue I have with my iPod. I plug it in, and then I hit the sync button for it. Both, my iPod touch and iTunes are the newest version right now. I've had this problem before other versions, but it seemed to manage somehow.

Right before the backup load bar, it keeps restarting what I believe. I get the apple symbol and the loading pinwheel icon together, and the beeping noise. It still continues to go through the process, but near the end, right before its complete, the iPod whitescreens and then turns off completely. It doesn't create a backup, and then back at the beginning.

Can someone help me?

Alright. I think this is likely my only alternative now if I wish to continue using my iPod touch, with syncing and likely other things. I really did not wish to go down this route, as I had just redownloaded a ton of things from the internet a couple days ago, taking up two whole days in the process. This consisted of only 15GB worth of data.

If it isn't this, and lost my game progressions and other things to still come with a similar result, it must be a hardware problem then, no? Or does hardware problems even cause this issue?

Alright. I'll go through both of the articles. I quickly just looked over it, and reminded me of a couple things I can do to help preserve some information, and got some more information to be able to use. It seems like game progression data is one thing will be lost, along with one app I won't be able to get back.

Thank you for this info and help. I'll get started on this tomorrow, as I need to sleep for now. Thank you again.
