New alu keyboard and OS 10.5.8

Hi,

I just got a new alu keyboard an it says that it is compatible to System 10.6.7. But I am still using 10.5.8. The function keys like sound are not working as expected an the keys for < and ^are switched.

I already unchecked the standard function for f1, etc but it won´t help. Can I do something besides updating to 10.6?
