iWork 06 works on a G3?

Hi all,

I notice that the system requirements for iWork 06 are a G4 or better, but can it still be installed on a 400mhz G3? Or does the installer not allow it to continue?

Cheers,
Diego

I'm thinking about getting iWork for my G3 iMac with
a 500mhz processor. Will it work? I see it works
with a "900 ghz" ibook, yet this puzzles me, as a "g"
is 1000 "m", how could the iBook possibly have that
fast a processor? Aslo, Any ifo on the difference
between '05 and '06 iWork? Would '05' work better
than '06 on my machine? Thanks, Hank

Good Catch. According to Apple-History.com the ibook G3 family only went to 700Mhz.

The iBook G4 went much higher.

The main thing to remember is, even if you can install iWork on an older processor than the ones Apple recommends, they will be slow, and you will not be able to get some of the transitions working properly.

I've worked on some of the slowerr systems, what is fine for one person won't be tolerable by others. If you have a lot of patience you may be fine with it. If you have a hammer beside your computer and have slight anger management issues, I wouldn't chance it.
