Is iPhone4 getting hot/warm on the right side ( screen facing )a normal thing while using 3g, gaming and sometimes while charging ?

Is it because of the hardware or software. This is my first Apple product.

iPhone 4, 32GB Black, iOS 4.3.5

Are you using it while it's charging?

If you are using it for prolonged periods then of course it will become hot/warm, hard to know without a time period if it's normal in your situation.

With intensive use, it is quite normal for the iPhone to get warm.

I don't use while charging. When i use 3g then within 20min the phone starts getting warm on the right side. I never used more than 30min. Gaming i understand but why during 3g. I use ya Belkin cover and everytime if i have to use my phone except talkin on the phone i have to take off the cover. Can someone tell me hoe much hot/warm is a problem.

    Intensive use like what?

  • gdgmacguy Level 6 Level 6 (19,415 points)

Anything that requires the iPhone to be in your hand constantly for 20 to 30 minutes would be considered intensive.  Leaving the iPhone alone waiting for a call would not be.

It really sounds like you do not have a problem.  If you really are that concerned, bring it into an Apple store for evaluation.

I agree with the above assessment.

Ya may be i am over reacting because this is my 4th replaced phone ( all had different problems except the 3rd which had heating problem ) so just worried and just trying to figure out is this a problem or not so that i can go ahead for refund but your reply is convincing.

I didn't get my answer yet. Is it normal or not ?

    Sachit,

How many times and how many people need to tell you it's normal for the phone to heat up before you believe it?

If you don't like the aswers here, you're free to have your phone checked out by Apple.  But don't keep asking the same thing over and over again.
