Can same Apple ID work FaceTime on 2 iPhones?

I put my Apple ID on my iPhone 4 and on my aunt's iPhone 4. But when we call each other, FaceTime does not work. Should I create a 2nd Apple ID and put this on one of those phones...and how do I accomplish that?

iPhone 4, iOS 4.2

Golfchica-

The E-Mail address registered with the Apple ID, is part of your iPad's FaceTime ID. You may be able to solve the problem by obtaining a second E-Mail address, and registering it with your Apple ID.

I think you should be able to call the iPhone from the iPad, since the iPhone's telephone number is its FaceTime ID. However, the reverse may not work without the second E-Mail address.

On these same lines, I have question. We have 1 Apple ID that we use over 2 laptops each with 1 device each. Each laptop has its own music, apps , etc that sync to their respective devices. Now to set up icloud i believe i need to create a separate apple id for one of them. otherwise, everything will sync to the same cloud? Does anyone know? please advise if you have any insight. also how do I create a second apple id for one of these laptop/device combos?

I do not know the answer to your question, and have not yet succumbed to the Cloud! I think that if the Cloud is designed correctly, there should be a way to keep individual devices with their unique sets of Apps and data, all under the same Apple ID.

I suggest you create a new thread, since this old one deals specifically with FaceTime. Someone who knows the answer may never see your question here.
