Can't Print to Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW

Can anyone help with this problem.

Since installing Lion, my iMac has been unable to print to my Epson Stylus photo TX810FW Printer (Multifunction connected wi-fi). It gets an error, when attempting to print -/usr/libexec/cups/filter/cgpdftoraster failed.

I can test print from the printer utility, and Scan from System Preferences and into preview okay. BUT am unable to print from any program to this printer.

I also have a brother printer, which is having no problems (also wi-fi). There were no problems with Snow Leopard. I Contacted Apple, but they were unable to help. I checked the Epson site, but there is no information.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, also downloading the latest from the Epson site.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

The filter that failed is part of the Epson software. I would suggest you take the following actions:

1. Delete your printer using Print & Scan preferfence pane.

2. Delete the folder /Library/Printers/Epson

3. Delete the folder (if present) /Library/Caches/Epson

4. Turn off your printer and then connect it to your computer using a USB connection.

5. Turn the printer on.

6. Go to the Print & Scan preference pane and click the + icon to add your printer.

7. You will be prompted/asked if you want to download the printer drivers for your printer. Say yes.

The updated drivers will download and install. This process should also add your printer. Once you confirm that the printer works properly, you can disconnect the USB connection and set up the printer to print wirelessly.

Thanks Matt, I have deleted all printers and reset printing system from System Preferences - then installed printers - no change. I downloaded the latest lion drivers from Epson, no change.

I also tried a Gutenprint driver - this printed, but the printout to a photo card became garbage on A4.

I think I'll have to wait until I can connect the printer via USB.

Matt,

Thanks for this, it worked perfectly when doing your steps!

I had exactly the same issue with my BX610. Connected with the USB, printed a page, removed USB, ran Epson Stylus Office BX610FW Network Setup.app and the network setup ran correctly.

Ronald,

I tried reloading the drivers from Epson and it made no difference. Connecting with the USB made the difference. Hope you are well enough to get to your printer soon.
