Quicktime Pro - Movie to Pic Help!

Just purchased Quicktime Pro 7 for my personal computer. I have been using it on my school computer for a couple of years. When trying to create a still picture from a movie I keep getting the error message - Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll (-11005)

I started to get this error after upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard. The movies were taken on ipod-touch. My clumsy solution is: to make a copy of the movie file; delete most of it except for a few frames around the intended export frame; and then use the export to image sequence option. Finally choose one of the exported images.

Beats me why this works when export to picture fails.
