import snafu, etc.

I apologize if I should have found an answer already posted, but I didn't see anything identical to my issue, which is:

import problem with iPhoto 2: I just imported 121 photos from my camera into iPhoto; I watched the program count down for several minutes as all photos imported. Next, I looked at the Organize view and saw that only 5 new photos are shown. What happened to the other 116 photos? The 5 photos are present in the iPhoto library folder.

The other issue is one of an external hard drive; I moved the library to my external with the help of the article "How to Store Libraries on External Hard Drives." Older photos show up in the Organize view as they should, but 71 recent imported photos do not; they are, however, present in the iPhoto library folder on the external.

As part of moving the library folder I did have iPhoto rebuild the library.

And finally, is there an easy way to get rid of duplicates in the library folder to save space? Some of these photos are 2mb each.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
