Can't move JPG to trash or delete it

Hi!

My wife downloaded off Yahoo News a JPG file that is now on the desktop. We have tried to move it to the trash, but a message comes up "Preparing to move to Trash" and saying "The item is being used by another task right now (Other tasks include moving, copying, or emptying the Trash) Try again when the other task is complete"

Well, no other applications are running. I tried renaming the file, dragging it into other folders to delete the folder, force quitting Finder and renaming the file, etc etc.

Help!!!! Thanks.

Hi George!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I did try to restart several times, but never tried to log out/in.

I DID however find a solution while continuing researching on the discussion group posts. Taken me a few hours to find a post that applies directly. Cool little trick that I just e-mailed off to another buddy with the same type of problem. The post is at:

Basically, you use Text Editor to overwrite the sticky file and then you can delete it.

Thanks again! Rich
