Custom news scroller/ticker

I'm after a personalised news scroller for my iWeb site. I tend to get things like this from Widgetbox. However everything I've found so far in terms of news scrollers are ones that just link to major news sites like BBC news. The website I need this for is a for a school so I need a news scroller that contains information that I can add myself i.e. "The school is closed today due to snow showers."
I know an RSS feed operates the same function but I would additionally need one of these scrolling news tickers for any major news snippets. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
