yahoo mail freezes up when using safari... seems to be okay with firefox. Is there validation that yahoo mail and safari in OS Lion are incompatible?

I'm in France trying to use the US version of Yahoo. I can log onto yahoo and see a refreshed homepage but when I go to mail the window reverts to yesterday's mail screen including news from yesterday. My inbox will not load and I get a small colorful rotating ball in place of the curser like the website / data is trying to load. My inbox never loads and the ball keeps spinning.

I've cleared my cache... reset Safari and cleared history. Shut down the computer and completed restablished my wifi connection. As a last resort I downloaded a different web brouser (Firefox) and that seems to be runninng smoother and at least let me see new mail.

Is there a compatibility issue with Safari and Yahoo US mail in Europe or maybe between Safari and Yahoo mail in general?

This has been happening to me for several days now and it's very annoying. I've been reading online and it seems to be an issue with Safari 5 and the latest Yahoo Mail. I can't figure out how to revert back to Yahoo Mail Classic, so I just decided to download Firefox out of frustration. I hate firefox and love Safari, usually, but I'm way too frustrated at this point.

The issue is there are a host of compromised certificates and Apple hasn't bothered to update their browser or operating system.

Of course Microsoft, Google and Mozilla all updated theirs, but Apple is dragging their behinds.

The best thing one can do at this point is use another web browser and make sure it's updated and check the plug-in versions as well

If your using Safari, the above plug-in check isn't as accurate on flash, use this one to check

If you use add-ons or extensions, remove them all and replace from fresh sources.

Well, that was a HUGE bust. Firefox didn't work at all and kept saying "bad requet" when I went to the YahooMail website. So I tried Opera. Didn't work. So I went back to an old format of YahooMail and it wouldn't let me attach a file. At this point I'm too frustrated to do anything else.

Sites like Yahoo and Gmail take your IP address into effect, display the site according to the country you live in.

Love technology, just overcomplicates things for the **** of it.

Update...

One of the threads I read recommended using the Mail program already loaded on the MacBook Pro. So I tried that and let it import both my yahoo and gmail accounts. So far... I'm getting all of my mail and can respond to both accounts from one screen. After I return to the states from Europe I might revert back to using the webmail versions of both yahoo and gmail but I'm pretty tempted to just let the resident mail program continue to work for me.

The exact same thing was happening to me. It was infuriating! Couldn't get anything done. Here's what yahoo sent as solutions:

I tried the first suggestion to disable the browser's ad-ons or plug ins. So far it is working. But if for some reason it happens again, at least there is a list of possible solutions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks... just did the same thing and will play around with a couple of test messages to see if anything has changed. Again... Going on seval days of using the resident mail program preloaded on the MacBook Pro and it seems to be managing my yahoo and gmail accounts without issue. The interface is not as good looking as yahoo webmail but I guess the functionality is what I'm really after.
