I'm finding it harder than I imagined to source a good solid cable to use with the Security Slot' on the back near the power cable.
Anyone any experience, please?

Good for discouraging casual, opportunistic theft I suppose. But hard to imagine any of these couldn't be easily defeated with a decent bolt cutter.
Now you have me wondering how the internal frame and case would hold up against a modest hammer strike to the lock.

I saw the Kensington product on the Apple site too, wrote to Kensington and asked how something illutrated as apparently meant for a laptop could work with an iMac. Am waiting for their clarification.
Then the Applelocks and Maclocks products both look very alike. Same company? Seem superior.
