It's possible your HD has failed or the installation was corrupt. Try restarting, when you hear the tone hold down the Option key on your keyboard, choose the Restore Drive which should now be installed. In it run Disk Utility to Repair the internal HD. Run it several times to ensure no errors were found or if found they were repaired. If you continue to get errors plan on getting the HD replaced. Once Repair Disk indicates the computer is OK try to reboot normally, if it still fails the reboot as instructed earlier and let the Restore Drive re-install Lion.

Hopefully you have been backing up your computer, if you have not you may have lost the data and will have learned a difficult lesson on why backup is critical.
