I have looked everywhere to try and find a way to set up "scroll zones." Where you touch with one finger on the vertical or horizontal edges of the trackpad to scroll. All my serches result in "scrolling reversed in OSX Lion" and I have found it impossible to wade through them, I have this amazingley huge trackpad and I can't use it like I'm used to. Please help.

I don't believe there is a "scroll zone" for one finger scrolling in OS X. You might want to look for a 3rd party add-on if you are looking to do that. Scroll zones are typically used on Windows machines.
If you want to scroll on a Mac, just touch 2 fingers to the trackpad and slide them up or down.
Thanks for the quick reply. I do enjoy the two finger scrolling. However using it exclusively cramps my fingers and I would image it cramps other peoples fingures as well, I'm not looking to replace the two fingure scrolling. I am looking to suppliment it with scrolling zones though, I have this enourmous trackpad (the best in the mobile computing world) that would be absoutely ideal for use with scrolling zones. I have been researching quite a bit and can't find a solution. Hoping I can find a solution here. I would love to be able to slide one finger sideways along the top and bottom to scroll to the side, and slide one finger up and down along the left and right edges to scroll up and down. I really hope I can find a solution. Please somebody....let me know if theres a program/plugin that can do this????
The fastest method I have found for manipulating my computer is this: (one finger scrolling works perfectly).
Thanks for the input, but I'm on a Macbook Air and I go to College everyday and it would be silly for me to pack around a mouse (plus I love my trackpad). Most ideal for me is going to be a way to set up some scroll zones. 😉😀😠😕
There is a third-party app. called Better Touch Tool. It allows a great deal of customization of the track pad motions. I'm not sure if it will let you set up a one finger scroll, but it is free and worth a look. Site says it only works with Leopard, but I have seen many posts on here from folks on Lion recommending it, so perhaps it is just that the page hasn't been updated.
I just download that, It only does gestures-no scroll zones. My buddy had a hackintosh Machine, and I remember he had scrolling zones, I just talked to him and he said he was using a third party driver for touchpads that replaces apples kext/driver. The name of it is VoodooPS2 and it's trackpad/touchpad driver. I wonder how I could set this up, he said I would have to remove the Apple touchpad driver, I wonder if the steps I'm talking about are reversible. He says it is on his machine but like I said he has a Hackintosh???? I would be willing to try this if any of you guys knows if the process of removing a driver (kext?) can be undone???
