Home button is not working

i had the same problem, just clean your home button with a toothbrush and hoover the dock conecter.

same issue here and i am 84 days post warranty and genius bar basically told me they couldnt do anything.

That's not exactly correct. You can purchase an out-of-warranty exchange for $199,00

why would i want to do that? i shouldnt have to dish out $199 for a malfunction on THEIR phone. ive never had any problem like this with any other phone in the past. this is my first iphone too and at&t NEVER informed me about an applecare extension..

Well, your warranty has expired. Looks to me like you have the following options:

Do nothing

Purchase the out-of-warranty exchange

Purchase another phone.

While unfortunate that AT&T didn't inform you about AppleCare, bottom line is it's too late to purchase it. You can be FURIOUS, but it's not going to get you anywhere.

I've got this same issue but, still in warranty. Apple store refuse to fix it cause my screen was crack. WTH!

My home button was non responsive at times. I tried this from appadvice and it worked for me a few friends who were having the same problem.

Done everything under the sun but, take the thing apart. Apple guy even said it's hardware. He said the pins are worn or bent due to age.

thats a hardware problem i have too before but my iphone 4 is under warrenty i am going to the apple store they change the mobile for me

Anybody have an experience of Apple fixing the home button issue, for iPhone 4s that are just a few months over the warranty expiration? Wanted to do this earlier (here in Hong Kong), but the process (through my network operator SmarTone-Vodafone) was really long and tedious (backing-up, going to an inconvenient service centre, etc.) - not to mention having my iPhone gone for 2 weeks without a replacement phone in the meantime.

It wasn't until one month after my warranty expiration that the flagship physical Apple Store (complete with Genius Bar) opened. I read online that there are some ocassions where Apple may, at its discretion, replace for free even if out of warranty.

My Home button is also no responding!

But the clue is, when i restart it, the phone directly go into Voice Control Mode!!!! And still, the home button is not functioning. I have searched plenty of method on-line to fix it but all fail!

My phone warranty has over and i hope there is a solution for me to solve this!!

hi just put your iphone for charging and keep pressing the home button till appearing of voice control ...

I tried other tips but keeping phone on flat surface and holding Home button and turning it clockwise and anticlockwise worked for me. Actually it starts working even before just one turn.

(Or you can hold it horizontally, turn around while holding home button LOL).

But it still goes back to unresponsive after some time and I have to do it again!! :-(

for anyone who's iphone buttons (hardware) are not working, there is something you could try w/out taking your phone apart.

go to settings --> general--> accessibility-->turn on assistive touch

this results in a small on screen touch activated version of your home button popping up on your screen - press it to see options such as : home. if you press it then select device, you will see further options such as mute. hope this helps.. would love to know how you go...
