My iPhone is not showing the wifi symbol at the top of the screen, but the 3G symbol. Settings shows that there is a connection to my wifi router. In fact, my iPad is showing a wifi connection. My iPhone is less than a meter from my router. Help please.
Still happening on 9.3.2, iPhone 5s. Very disappointed that Apple cannot fix a bug which is 5 years old apparently 😟
For me turning WiFi on/off didn't help, turning 3G on/off didn't help, but turning the phone on/off did help. For a while. Then the problem came back again ðŸ˜
Try turning wifi off and back on.
Try an iPhone reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Try resetting your network settings.
Try power cycling your router.
The reset works (but only if WIFI is turned off at the time) ... BUT it is only a temporary fix for me, as after a variable amount of time I am back without WIFI again, and must do another reset to restore it. Is driving me mad. IPhone 6 running latest update 9.2.
Got this too. The reset fixed it.
An additional note: to troubleshoot, I shut off cellular data to ensure that WIFI was functioning — even though the symbol was missing. It was.
No idea what caused it. All other WIFI connected devices on the same network were just fine.

Did you ever fix it? I have a 4s just bought it off ebay and the wifi icon on my quick swipe list is black with no icon present also the wifi is greyed out.
