iTunes 10.4 - Mac OS X 10.5.8

From the Finder check your iTunes folder with 'Get Info' and see that you have read/write privliges.

iTunes 10.4.1 is available.

I was just going to post about the iTunes 10.4 upgrade on X 10.5.8 myself.

iTunes has been an unreliable nightmare since I mistakenly upgraded. It's always a nightmare after major upgrades but this was the worst yet. Upgrading to 10.4.1 has made no difference atall, it's as though they haven't noticed all the bugs PPC user are experiencing.

It works, but very sporadically. All the problems below occur most of the time, but not always:

Problems include:

• Adding music to the library, either via the 'File>Add To Library' command or by dragging files to the library. The 'Adding Files To Library - Processing' progress window pops up but when it goes away there will be no files in the library. I have found that by adding files a few more times it will eventually catch up and suddenly 2 or 3 versions of each song will appear in the library in the middle of copying to my music folder. I then have to delete the extra versions.
• Pressing the first letters of an artists name on the keyboard when sorted by artist no longer jumps to that artist in the library.
• Typing a name in the search bar has no effect atall! Nothing changes so I have to scroll for miles to find what i want.
• Dragging songs to playlists has no effect. Songs are not added.
• iPod connectivity is equally flaky. Gettting all kinds of error messages saying it can't connect or it doesn't read the iPod atall then it will appear all of a sudden a while later.

Anyone else experiencing such delights? Any idea when a less buggy version will be released?

All 3 are read/write - but are those options applied to 'all enclosed folders/items' - use the gear tab to apply to all enclosed ......

Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Reboot your Mac.
