Lion killed iCal syncing

After I upgraded 3 machines to Lion iCal syncing via MobileMe stopped working on every lion machine. ICal always shows "Syncing..." but nothing happens. There is neither a problem syncing my iPhone to MobileMe nor with my iPad. Everything works fine with iOS 4 and MobileMe.

How do I get iCal on my Macs working again?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1), iPhone, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini

I also found there is no longer a selection to sync calendars in the MobileMe control panel.

iCal no longer syncs to MobileMe using the method controlled in that Prefs Pane, so it's been removed in Lion as irrelevant.

The syncing (it's not really syncing, as iCal reads the calendars off the server, like webmail) is set in iCal Preferences>Accounts where your MobileMe email address and password should be entered: in Lion there is a new Prefs Pane where you can set it - please see this Tech Note:

If it's set up but not working I should remove the settings and re-enter them as a first step.

I had this problem with my new MacBook Pro and Lion. It worked when I first set up the CalDav account in iCal Preferences, but I found later it would not sync. I found I had missed a set up section - in System Preferences there is a "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" button, click on it and you will see a MobileMe button, click on that and there is a pane where you will see "Calendars and Reminders" which needs to be checked.

This worked for me.
