Can I sync my contacts from Gmail?
Can and if so how can I sync my contacts in gmail to my contacts on the contacts app on my ipad2?

This article no longer applies since Google unplugged Active Sync, unless you have a paid or educational GMail account. The Apple article above is the correct one to refer to if you have a 'regular' GMail account.
