Clear .DocumentRevisions-V100

Where and what is this folder?

That folder is at the boot drive's root, and it's where Versions stores the changes to documents.

Nachocp, are you aware that messing with that folder will impair the functionality of Versions? I'm not aware of any way to limit the size, and I don't know what the implications would be of deleting items from it, but that would almost certainly mess up Versions.

My Lion always starts up with an old recovered Session when I reboot. This is not because I'm checking the Save Application Check on shutdown (because it seems to be always the same session from Nov. 29).

Nevertheless if I check or uncheck this box, those one Session re-appears on reboot starting Word, Chrome, Mail, Vorschau (English name??), Terminal, iTunes, Songbird etc and always those with an old state (if they support state save)....

May deleting this folder "/.DocumentRevisions-V100/" solve my problem and does any important system function prevent my system from running if this folder was deleted? (It may re-allocated on next startup or maybe only the contents should be deleted)

I'm suspecting the problem exactly here... Maybe the ACL/Rights are incorrect so that those files can't be overwritten and thou the old session re-appears on each startup??

Is this folder necessary for Lion to run properly??

It's okay for me, if all saved states will be deleted once and after that Lion/Versions starts with fresh values and can be used again..

okay. deleted it via terminal and sudo but applications still start after reboot... although also Library/Saved Application State was deleted...

No. As stated above, that contains all the previous versions of files edited by apps that support versions. It will be recreated at a restart, but all the old versions are now gone.

If you use Time Machine, the previous versions of any such files that were on Local Snapshots will be gone, too.

I know, that previous versions are gone with deleting (that was okay to me).

Does anyone know, where Lion stores the information, which applications shall be started on next startup? (Maybe saved by the "restore all application windows" setting on shutdown?). I'll wanna take a look at that maybe, this file is write protected in any way because of my user configuration copy and should get corrected rights, so the system can update it again... if not, nevertheless I want to delete those entries in any way.

There is a folder called Saved Application State in your user Library.

I deleted this directory and also made it write protected. This didn't help.

There must be some plist file, that stores information, which applications have to be started next time (and I mean not those ones, that I defined to start in the Dock)

Please don't do things like that. What is the actual problem you're trying to solve? If it's just that you have a "Recovered Files" folder in the Trash after a restart, that often seems to be caused by Microsoft Office, but other applications that don't clean up their temporary files could cause it as well. It certainly has nothing to do with Versions or CoreStorage.

This was a suggestion I got somewhere.

I didn't delete the directory, but its contents. I can remove the write protection at everytime, so this is no problem.

My problem isn't Microsoft Office, my Problem is MacOS 10.7.2 --> somewhere in the options, plists, saved states or whatever is something doing my User Account coming up with one specific old session again and again. Not only Microsoft Office, also iTunes, Mail, Adium, Terminal and some other candidates startup at each Login into my user account immediateley although they shouldn't.

I'm guessing that these applications where running possibly 2 weeks ago, when my Mac crashed or shutdown with the "restore all applications on restart" (dunno how it's called in English) flag on..

System Preferences > General > Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps: uncheck

It's a bit of a long shot, but download the (free) TinkerTool app.

The Resume tab in the toolbar allows setting the Restore behavior globally (which you've tried), but also for individual apps.

Try setting some of the apps in question, then log out and back in, and see if there's any difference.

Okay, this may help for the future but does it help to clear these one session, that always re-appears? I'm giving it a try :-)
