No Homepage Support!!!!

This is terrible.

After installing iLife 06 I can't get nice streamlined access to my Homepage themed web site on .Mac!!!!!

Yeah I can manually do all the copying etc... but why Oh why make me use iWeb and it's resultant big fat huge pages which chew up my disk space!!!

RIP OFF...

Thanks Apple....

I agree! I went to upload some pictures today and lo and behold no homepage button, so I was forced to use iweb. I like iweb but for these photos I really wanted to use my homepage to keep a certain theme going and let comparisons be made between sets of pictures. I did not have the time to use the so slow idisk then edit the page.

APPLE please give us back our homepage support in iphoto. Shouldn't I as a original .mac member have the right to decide which app/service I wish to use. Signs of microsoft and not "think different" attitude creeping in it appears to me.

Absolutely right! I am crushed that we're forced to use iWeb to publish folders. I used to brag about how easy it was to add to my homepage.... iWeb looks like a terrific program, but not for what I've been using Homepage for.

There should be an option to use the Homepage button. Fortunately I still have by old iMac with the old version of iPhoto. I guess I'll have to use it instead.

This MUST be corrected. Please!!!

Agree. Maybe iWeb will be the way to go -- but right now, it's not there.

With just 8 themes and 500,000 .Mac members, we'll only have to share the same design for our sites with 62,499 other people! We like the fun Homepage themes for our photo and movie pages.

I undersand what they're trying to do, but losing flexibility shoudn't be the Apple way.

This is crazy!! Now we have to use iweb to publish from iphoto 6 and we have no way of connecting the sites we create in iweb to our normal homepage. How crazy is that? I have over a dozen pages that I distribute directly from the homepage and now I have to give out this long winded url --> http://web.mac.com/YourMemberName/iweb/SiteName

Does anyone know of a way to use iweb to publish to the homepage? This process of using the idisk to export 45 pictures up to an idisk and then start the page construction takes away the simplicity that it always had. This isnt fun anymore, this is work....

I can not say how upset I am with Apple. I believe this is a total scam to get people to buy more space for their .Mac account.

All I freaking want is a easy way to post IMAGES for my family and friends to see. I don't want to build freaking web sites with iWeb. That is not to say I won't use iWeb, but not after spending the past 3 years building photo pages with Homepage.

GIVE ME BACK MY HOMEPAGE!!!!

I totally agree. Not only are they forcing me to use iWeb (which I now own) but they are giving me less features. I just can't understand how they can force me to use iWeb to post my pictures but do not give me a template or navigation bar for my photos like in Homepage. Every photo page has it's own heading in the top menu? Yes, I know you can build your own navigation page and I have done that in iWeb but it is more work and not as slick as the simple top menu in Homepage. I just paid more for less. I want to just hit the publish button and be done with it. I don't want to have to link up the pages to my own navigation page. How does that omission even get out to a version 1.0 product? I've been in the Apple world for 20+ years and this is the worst scam yet. Very, very ****** off.

Agreed...
You know, come to think of it, I could use freeway express to build my website, which is just as easy as iweb and host it on my FREE broadband providers web space!

The whole point of .mac for me was the easy and quick intergration of iphoto onto homepage, that iweb thing is bloated and slow on my g4! I should have stuck with iphoto5, I feel like i just lost £55!

Thanks
Steve

HERE'S A WORK-AROUND! (If this has been posted by anyone else, forgive my duplicating... but I didn't see it already.)

For all of us frustrated .Mac users, who use Homepage and have found that iLife '06 does not support us (thanks, Apple... we trust you'll remedy this), here is what I've done to update my Homepages:

• Create a new folder in your iDisk>Pictures Folder,
• Drag all the photos you wish to share into that folder,
•->Some won't copy if the original file names were the same (i.e. PICT0001.jpg), so once the first "PICT0001.jpg" is uploaded, and a message comes up that a certain picture cannot be uploaded because that name already exists, then simply rename the first "PICT0001.jpg" to something else and then re-drag/drop the next.
• Go to Homepage and Add Page
• Select Photo Template of choice and then it will ask you to select the desired folder of photos, where you may then select the folder of photos that you just created.
• You will need to type in all the captions in the online editor.
• You will lose your "counter" numbers, because this is a new page.

IF ANYONE HAS FURTHER IDEAS related to this work-around, even how to edit a current Homepage page (to keep the counter, etc.), please feel free to respond!!
