Hello,
Can you provide a link to test it out here? 🙂
Thank you for your hel in advance. here is the link to the file in question. http://rosemck1.tripod.com/bless-this-house.mid🙂
From that link, the download window came up immediately, without any need to right-click.
Edit; that worked in both Safari and Firefox. However, right-clicking the link and choosing "save link as" also initiates the download after asking you where to put it.
That link started the Quicktime plugin on my Lion install.
To download the file, you have to use the contextual menu (or option+click) the link that takes you to the file, not the opened player.
Thank you all for your help and advice. However when I click on the download link I get a 'QuickTime ' message informing me I require additional software for Quicktime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quicktime Components page. I then click on 'Continue' and it takes me to:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=OSX&ctype=71746578&c subtype=ff9c8000
This page displayes 11 different components with non of them saying they are for a midi download? so I do not know which to select. I do have 'Audacity' and 'Rondo' which play midi file? Perhaps the component is needed to show the download box?
In Safari Preferences, uncheck the "open safe files after downloading" box. That should allow the download to go to the desktop (or Downloads folder - whatever you have set). You can then open it from there with your choice of software.
Incidentally, when I downloaded it DivX Player was set as the default app to open it (by Firefox).
