iPod Touch seized up and a hard reset didn't work

My iPod Touch has locked up, seized up, won't do anything. At 12:15 pm, I slid the button on my iPod to put my code in to unlock it. It slid to the right just fine - but that's the last thing it did! The screen is "frozen". It still displays 12:15 as the time, the arrow button is still slid over to the right, and it won't allow a hard reset! Nor would allow the two techs that tried to hard reset it either. I tried hooking it up to my computer when I got home but a window opened and said "iTunes could not connect to my iPod because an invalid response was received from the device.

Has this happened to anyone else? What else can I try? PLEASE HELP!

iPod touch, Windows 7
