Can anyone please help? I don't know what I did to cause this in the first place.
It will only allow me to access secure websites, and I'm sure it's an easy fix but I've been right through my settings etc. Really stumped!

Sorry guys! Totally fixed it 😀 Found another post only AFTER I'd posted this question (had been looking for hours - facepalm!) - go to system preferences / network / advanced / proxies / then unselect "http web proxy".
Freaking **** - dunno what I did in the first place... but all back to normal now thank god!

Don't feel bad; it's long been known one of the best ways to find the answer to an issue that's been stumping you is to explain it to someone else.
