how do I use keyboard shortcuts to answer prompts?

In Snow Leopard, if I am in TextEdit editing a document and decided to close the window and NOT save the changes I made, I would follow these keyboard shortcuts:

1.) hit Command + W to close window

2.) since I have made changes to window, I receive these prompt window with buttons I could select with mouse or use the following keyboard shortcuts:

Don't Save ==> to choose this option, hit Command + D or select button with mouse

Cancel == to choose this option, must use mouse to select button, no keyboard shortcut

Save ==> to choose this option, hit Command + S or select button with mouse.

In Lion, if I follow the same procedure to close an unsaved TextEdit document, doing this:

1.) hit Command + W to close window

2.) receive window with prompts, but the keyboard shortcuts do not work, I must use mouse to select buttons.

In Lion, how do respond to prompts using keyboard shortcuts instead of reaching for my magic mouse in my mid-2010 27" iMac?

Just found an answer to my own question elsewhere on this forum, sorry.

Go to "System Preferences" --> "Keyboard" --> "Keyboard Shortcuts" --> "Full Keyboard Access" ... and then select "All controls" at the bottom of the panel.

After completing above procedure, the keyboard shortcuts of OS X Snow Leopard still don't work the same way, but in OS X Lion I can hit TAB key to move down to button prompts and simply hit enter when desired button is highlighted. Also, hitting ESC key works fine as an alternate to selecting CANCEL button in both Snow Leopard and Lion.
