Why is iTunes declining my card now??

I bought the ipad2 yesterday :) and it's amazing. But, now all of a sudden my card is not being accepted ( even for free apps) I havnt changed any details etc. I just work up this morning and I can not download apps??

It says to confirm my bank detail, which they are, and the it says iTunes has declined your card?? Why.

To you need to have a certain amount of money in your account to get even free apps????

Thank you in advance for any help or advice.

I think when cards are used for major purchase they temporarily hold the purchase price and a bit left over, but if you have a decent credit limit that shouldn't have any effect.

Obviously it's confidential information so you really should be contacting iTunes support http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and/or your credit card company.

Oh I would certainly hope so. Only you know what your credit card balance is and I can only assume that as an iPad2 is a major expense the card company has put a temporary hold on further use of the card....they would be able to tell you that I would imagine.

From a Google search this isn't the first time this has happened so a call to Apple Support might be in order as well as checking with the credit card issuer.

On second thoughts it could easily be an Apple problem after all. But I would check both Apple and the card company.

one additional thing you might check- there were some threads over the last couple of months saying that Apple changed their security policy somewhat, and now you need an exact match between the address I tunes thinks and your credit card mailing address. Things linke St. instead of Street. You might check your mailing address associated with the CC against the address you gave apple, and make sure they match exactly.
