Apple iOS is exceptionally secure. But while there is no known malware for iOS, you can still download or forward infected files to other computers. Whether you use an iPhone or iPad, you need to be aware that these devices can pass on files that can harm your other computers.
That being said, due to the way Apple has built iOS, it's not possible to install a standard antivirus program. In addition, software cannot run in the background, to provide real-time scanning of files downloaded or received by email. I like it because, in my opinion, a little bit of protection is better than no protection.
