I'm trying to Repair and Verify an external hard drive volume using Disk Utility v.12(346). I am not having issues with the volume, although it has been squirrley in the past.
In Disk Utility, I am able to verify and repair the partition map for the drive (which is a “WD My Book 1110,” 1.5TB).
Below the drive is the volume (which I named "MEDIA."). When I click Verify Disk,
But when I click Repair Disk, here is what is returned, almost immediately:
Verify and Repair volume “MEDIA”
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
Volume repair complete.
Error: Couldn’t unmount disk.
The result seems to be the same immediately after restart, with no apps open other than Disk Utility.
Can anyone help?
If you tell Disk Utility to dismount that volume what happens?
