Sharing NTFS volume in Mac-only network

I have two Macs, both with Lion 10.7.1. I want to share a NTFS-volume which is a patition of a external usb-drive between the two Macs. When I activate AFP-Filesharing, all drives are visible from the other Mac except for the NTFS-volume. When I activate SMB-Filesharing (and deactivate AFP-Filesharing), all volumes are visible (including the NTFS-volume) but when I click on any Folder on the NTFS-volume it won't open an the following message appears (I only have the german message, sorry for that):

"Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden, da das Originalobjekt für "XYZ" nicht gefunden wurde."

In English, it's something like: "The process could not be finished because the original object for "XYZ" was not found."

"XYZ" is the name of the folder on the NTFS drive.

All HFS-volumes work fine but I don't wand to re-format the drive using HFS becaus I don't want to loose the compatibility to some devices that only support NTFS.

I have exactly the same situation on Lion 10.7.2.

With the smb protocol, the error message sounds like this:

"The operation can't be completed because the original item for XYZ can't be found."

Of course with AFP the NTFS drives/folders not visible.

I tried to access the folder from terminal and in the /Volumes I only see the mounted drives, but I can not be able to mount my shared NTFS folders nor drives.

I'm using "Paragon NTFS for mac" to read and write my NTFS drives on both of my Mac computers.

Bumping the thread

Same issue as the above. I have 2TB external hard drive wired usb to my macbook pro. My windows computer able to access the hard drive (maybe because it is straight down NTFS). Apparently, none of the mac computers in the house able to see the drive on their shared panel in finder.

Anyone has any tutorial at rectifying the problem? I'm willing to do a fresh start at sorting this out.

Just to be clear, all I want to do is to make the 2TB external hard drive that's connected to my macbook pro accessible to everyone (all macs) in the house. Also, everyone is connected to the same network.
