I fear it maybe a bad drive, but does anyone know a way i can test it for sure?? Even when I put my install DVDs in, they are not recognised. Thanks for any and all help/advice....

You may want to post in the G4 forum(s), this is an Intel Based iMac forum. The G4's were all PPC based machines.
