Are sound fonts simply gone in Garageband '11/Lion?

Just got a brand new iMac about a week ago, with Lion and iLife '11 preinstalled. Can't find any soundfonts although "QuickTime Music Synthesizer" shows a bunch of them. Can't find them anywhere, even in ~/Library/Audio/Sounds/Banks. Can't even find them with Spotlight. About one in ten soundfonts on the QTMS list will play with QTMS, the others are silent. The bismark bs-0 creates a speaker-killing buzz when selected. I downloaded the latest version of bs-0 and some brand new soundfonts to try and put the soundfonts in ~/Library/Audio/Sounds/Banks. Still no luck. Can't even see them. I've been Googling my tail off but most of the soundfont info is pre-Lion. Are soundfonts simply no longer supported?

I too have probelms with the DSLMusicDevice.

I have my sf2 files in the "Banks" folder, the "plugin" DSLMusicDevice shows up in GB,

but when I want to edit the sounds, GB crashes.

And I also have no idea, where to find the DSLMusicDevice plugin or component.

Where should I search for it? Or is it implemented in GB directly?

Any workaround to recover pre-Lion songs?
