Streaming home video from iPhoto library takes for ever to load. Photos are fine? Is my setup wrong?

When viewing home videos from iPhoto over wireless to Apple TV they take forever to load.

Photos are fine

Vids are Full HD and streaming ... well appears loading down to the aTV takes forever to the point I cant be bothered.

Is my set up correct or is this just how it works?

Welcome to the Apple Community.

They're OK for me, mine are from my iPhone but I don't think they can be too different from mine since the iPhone takes video at 720p at approx 11 Mbps which is about the maximum for the Apple TV. I don't tend to watch these videos from iPhoto all that often, and instead edit them in iMovie and add them to iTunes.

What sort of performance do you get if you add one of these videos to iTunes and stream it that way.

I'm new to Mac so still confused in the best way to set up the libraries. I have about 200Gb of photos and video and wanted to be able to easily share them to my TV for family to view.

I dont use iphoto to watch the vids but just imported them to the iPhoto library as my SLR also does HD video. I have no idea how best to manage vids and photos and maintain....

So it seems you need to "repurpose" and store multiple versions for different devices.....hmmmm was hoping to to have to do that.

Thanks for the advice - i will give it a crack and see what I can do.

I don't understand why we can't get an answer from someone as to why the airplay just doesn't work like its supposed to. I bought apple tv 2 SOLELY for the purpose of being able to quickly and wirelessly play videos from my iphone on the tv for the rest of the family to see and I can't get it to do that. Everytime, it starts and then says "there was an error loading this video. try again later." I don't want to have to upload everything to itunes and stream it from there, and I shouldn't have to. BTW the videos I am trying to play are not rented or anything a 3rd party would have to make work with airplay. They are recorded by the iphone.
