No TV out on iPod Touch 4G using Apple Composite AV Cable

I have an iPod Touch 4G, and want to connect it to my TV. I bought the correct Apple Composite AV Cable as shown on the Apple website. When I connect it up, I get audio through the TV but no video. I have tried my old iPod classic and my wifes iPhone 3Gs, and they both play perfectly. Have I missed something? I'm led to believe that I don't have to alter any settings in the Touch, it should be 'plug & play'. Any help that you could give would be gratefully accepted - it's American Football season, and I have Sky Mobile!

Streaming video via the TV Out setting only works for certain Apps such as the built in Videos App for your iPod Touch. For other Apps, you'll need to check whether or not they support this functionality either by visiting their website or contacting the developers.

I can't play any video at all, regardless of the app. Have they changed the cables recently? I was wondering if the cable I have isn't compatible with 4G.

If you are using the cable that plugs into the headphone jack that does not work on the iPod Touch. See:

No, I'm using the 'correct' Apple Composite AV Cable, according to all the documentation I've found.

Are you sure you have a 4G iPod Touch? See this support document to help you verify what generation your iPod Touch is.

Is your iPod Touch running the latest version of iOS?

Are you positive your TV is compatible or capable of displaying the video content from your iPod Touch? If you are suren't, check with the manufacturer.

I keep my Touch up to date, just updated to iOS 4.3.5. The TV can play video from my iPod 3G and my wifes iPhone 3Gs using the same composite cable; that's what makes me wonder if the cable isn't compatible with 4th Gen ?

Do you know the cable number? The link I originally provided did not list that cable as compatible with the 4G Pod.

I have the exact same issue. I used to be able to connect my Itouch to my tv, but ever since the IOS 5 update, I can't. No video works. Only sound.

Your av composite cable isnt compatible with the ipod touch 4G, i assure you that. It will work on older devices like what you have said... But ipod touch 4G is completely a high tech device in present generation. Apple cables/cables are compatible specifically to a device. Try to buy cables conpatible with iphone 4 above and i assure you it will perfectly work with an ipod touch 4G. Iphone 3gs model is inferior to 4th generation models. So maybe the cable cant function properly on higher models because its firmware, specs., etc. is more advanced.
