how do i make the British Pound symbol in Pages?

I have the long Mac keyboard (British) with number pad at the right. £ (Pound) is marked on the 3 key - Shift 3 - if that no good go to Show Keyboard Viewer (on the menu bar the national flag thing) and press Shift or Option to bring up changes. If that no good Show Character Viewer > Currency Symbols.
