Boot Camp Problems. The disk is not journaled.

Hi

I am trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium on a MBP 2.3 i7 10.6.8. I have the hard drive partitioned with 4 different partitions. Now I want to install Windows and when I launch the Boot Camp Assistant it says:

"Boot Camp Assistant Can not Be Used. The disk is not journaled. You must enable journaling using Disk Utility before using the Boot Camp Assistant."

However all the partitions in disk utility have the "enable journaling" greyed out except the partion that contains the disk image of Snow Leopard Install Disk. I have tried to eject this partition prior lauching boot camp but I get the same error. Any ideas how to solve it?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

This reply Re: Boot Camp Problems. The disk is not journaled. was most helpful for me. However, I found that the recovery partition was totally hidden in Disk Utility (Sierra) and therefore could not be detected or deleted there. Because it was was the s2 on my disk (s0 being the EFI) is was then not possible to delete any of the partitions that followed it because they could not be merged with the MacOS system partition with the recovery partition in between resulting in a failure message with no reason given. The solution was to use Terminal.

$ diskutil list

$ sudo diskutil eraseVolume Free\ Space not disc0s#

you have to erase the raw hard drive, something like "WD6400AAKS" or something.

I don't like or recommend using Apple TM and find that clone using SuperDuper is ideal. What it does is consolidate folders and free space so you have all the free space at the end in one contiguous chunk.

Running any kind of installers etc will fragment the free space.

Some people find that they also need to run Disk Repair which has to be done from another OS X drive or DVD.

Thanks! finaly I have installed Windows 7. During the process I found out that, at least on my system, I can not install Windows 7 if the hard disk has more than 1 partition (+ the Bootcamp´s partition).

So I had to format the hard disk, Clone back my Macintosh HD in one only partition, run bootcamp to create the Windows partition, then run the windows installer and REFORMAT this bootcamp partition to install windows. Then come back to OSX to make the 4 partitions I work with.
